This isn't just a year of graphic updates; Honda has gone back to the drawing board, focusing on chassis performance to create a bike that is more stable, precise, and easier to ride at race pace. With a completely redesigned frame and refined engine characteristics, the 2025 model aims to give riders the ultimate advantage right out of the gate.
The biggest story for 2025 is the brand-new aluminum twin-spar frame. Honda engineers targeted a 7% increase in torsional rigidity and a 4% increase in lateral rigidity. This new design, which removes the front downtube Y-joint, aims to deliver exceptional stability in high-speed sections and superior precision when carving through corners. Complementing the new frame are a new subframe, new triple clamps, and a new front axle, all working in concert to provide a more connected and predictable feel for the rider.
While the potent 449.8cc Unicam® single-cylinder engine is a familiar powerhouse, it receives key updates for 2025. A new, straighter intake tract, revised PGM-FI mapping, and a redesigned exhaust system work together to produce smoother, more linear power. The focus is on improved tractability, making the bike easier to manage when exiting corners and putting power to the ground. The advanced electronics suite returns, including Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) with three intervention levels, three selectable Engine Mode Select Button (EMSB) maps, and HRC Launch Control to optimize starts.
To match the characteristics of the new, more rigid chassis, the suspension has been thoroughly updated. The 49mm Showa coil-spring fork and Pro-Link rear shock have been completely re-valved. The goal was to improve ride balance and comfort without sacrificing bottoming resistance on big jumps. The new settings are designed to work harmoniously with the stiffer frame, allowing the suspension to move more freely and absorb impacts more effectively, resulting in a plusher feel and enhanced traction across choppy terrain.
